HW 10/23

HW 10/23

Task 1:

“The goal of liberal arts is to provide students with proper knowledge and skills that can be applied to everyday real-life situations.” These two go good together because they both are intended to prove the same point. In other words, they complement each other.

“Throughout Sanford J. Ungar’s article, he explains the many ways in which people view liberal arts and how they are mistaken. ” This is an example of how and where I used coordination.

“This means a student’s major may not require the skills gained in previous arguments about free minds and learning not only how to complete tasks but how to complete them in a way that is most beneficial to the student.” This is a good example of another place that I use coordination to provide the most support for the information.

“My perception of liberal arts and STEM is that both have equal importance. However, I believe that liberal arts is not only more important but more practical than STEM. Enrolling in STEM practices will teach the student the information needed to complete the task at hand better.” In this example, I used Subordination through two sentences. I split these up into two sentences to highlight the key point I am trying to get across to the reader, which is, by enrolling in liberal arts, the student will be able to complete the task at hand better.

“Those surveyed also said that they were looking for an overall ‘better’ employee that demonstrates the characteristics within liberal arts. To be specific, employers are looking for people who have the ability to obtain knowledge through thinking critically, creatively, and analytically.” In this example of subordination, I attempt to bring forward the fact that employers are looking for students fresh out of liberal arts schools because they are the most academically inclined.
