Revision Plan, Paper 1

Revision Plan, Paper 1

Task I

  • What big concerns did you have about your draft as you completed the first draft?

Some of the biggest concerns that I had when writing my first draft. I was worried about getting my thoughts down correctly. I was also worried about implementing my quotes in the correct places. Something else that I was concerned about was whether or not I would be able to gather enough information to complete the assignment well.

  • What did your peers like most about your paper? Be specific, perhaps by quoting from one (or more) of the comments on your paper. Be sure to credit your peer!

My peers admired the way that I explained/defined certain things. For example, someone who peer edited my paper commented on the way that I defined a fixed mindset, Kayla said, “This is a good explanation of a fixed mindset.”

  • Where are you working best with Dweck? What do your peers think you can do to improve on that section? You might quote from a peer, and give credit.

I have found many quotes throughout Carol Dwecks TED talk. In many areas, I have used quotes from her article.

  • Where are you working best with Lukianoff/Haidt? What do your peers think you can do to improve on that section? You might quote from a peer, and give credit.

I am working best with “The Coddling of the American Mind” by using quotes to explain b0th the positives and the negatives to a more friendly higher education.

  • According to your peers, what are your two biggest challenges in your work with the texts? How do you think you can address those challenges in your revision? If you need quotes or “evidence,” be specific about the text you should bring into a revision. If you need stronger explanations of your Dweck-Lukianoff/Haidt or Dweck-Lukianoff/Haidt-Roth relationships, be specific about what you need to explain. (Don’t re-write the paragraphs or sections. Rather, explain what you need to do.)

According to my peers, my struggles are represented where I try to link the article with the TED talk. A way for me to resolve this in my revision process would be by taking more time to ensure that my back up information is accurate. Another area I struggle with is organizing my information into a fluid essay.

  • Using the guidance from your peers, put your overall perspective (viewpoint) into a sentence or two. How will you help your reader “get” your perspective?

I will help my reader understand my perspective by making my information more clear and concrete and organizing my paper correctly.
